Abstract


The present paper examines how the skills and recruitment are key structural pillars in the process of learning a foreign language. We analyze the representativeness of exercises to understand spoken and written language in textbooks, which are used in teaching Greek as a foreign language at the Faculty of Philology, University of Belgrade. We have concluded that an integrated and comprehensive teaching of specific skills has contributed, among others, in achieving excellent results in international examinations of the Greek language Ellinomatheia, as a system of external evaluation. As a source for statistical and comparative research we examined the textbooks, which were selected for teaching in Modern Greek courses in the second year of undergraduate academic studies.
