Abstract

The Translation of the Orationes Contra Arianos of Athanasius the Great in the First Bulgarian Kingdom

Translation of Contra Arianos of Athanasius the Great in the 1st Bulgarian kingdom“ is a research of the earliest Slavonic tradition of the MSS of this work. The order of the books in the collection in question and the missing texts in it, point at an earlier Greek version of the collection which comes perhaps from the 9th or the 10th century and that can be found in Codex Atheniensis graecus 428. Linguistic characteristics of the translation fasten it to the Preslava School in North-East Bulgaria in the period of the 1st Bulgarian kingdom. The specific theological interest in this collection points at presence of Arians in the region.
