Abstract

(Contextually Around) About the Trilingual (Greek - Latin - Slavic) Alphabets of the Monk Dimitri (Sin. Slav. 3/N)

In this paper is presented the Glagolitic Psalter of Demetrius (Ol'tar'nik) No 3/N. This remarkable manuscript of the New Series of Slavic manuscripts of St. Catherine’s Monastery on Mount Sinai has great interest for Old Slavic language and literature.

Author of Glagolitic notes and trilingual alphabet was monk Dimitri. The Glagolitic Alphabet is third in a row (first is the Greek and second the Latin one). Although a proportion of the letters from all three alphabets has been destroyed, due to the deterioration of the manuscript, the part that survived allows us to make certain estimates and to move on to interesting observations.

The author of the paper compares the Glagolitic alphabet of monk Dimitri with the famous Bulgarian monk Hrabar "O pismeneh" and identifies significant proportions and interesting differences.
