The presence of hymnographic texts in schedographic collections: The case of CODEX LESBIACUS LEIMONOS 91

This paper deals with the presence of hymnographical texts in schedographic collections in Byzantium. It employs Lesb. Leimonos, in which seven of the total 27 schedē that it contains are well-known hymnographical texts, as a point of departure, to show that such a phenomenon can be found in other manuscripts. The conclusion to be drawn here is that this was a common practice in education and that hymnographical texts were used either unchanged or paraphrased. A diplomatic edition of the seven schedē is placed at the end of the paper to allow the reader to understand how the schedē were used in the teaching of ancient Greek.
